Do you love to crunch numbers? Are you fascinated by the flow of money and assets? Accountants will always be in high demand!
Accountants and auditors analyze and communicate financial information for companies, individual clients, and government agencies. They help to ensure that organizations are run efficiently, taxes are properly prepared and paid, and financial records are kept accurately. Many accountants also offer information technology consulting, budget analysis, limited legal services, and financial and investment planning.
Most accountant and auditor positions require at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. The U.S. Department of Labor says that job prospects over the 2006-2016 decade are expected to grow faster than average. This is the result of an expanding economy, and stricter accounting and auditing regulations. The best job prospects will be for auditors and accountants who have a college degree or certification, and particularly a CPA.*
