BELHAVEN COLLEGE Belhaven College is a Christian liberal arts college dedicated to preparing students for positions of leadership in a rapidly changing society. In a community of professors and students working together in a Christian environment, Belhaven provides a strong traditional liberal arts curriculum, as well as continuing education for adults and a convenient online learning program. Founded in 1883, Belhaven College is located on a forty-two acre campus near the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. We offer eight bachelor's degrees and four master’s degrees, plus programs of general studies and pre-professional programs in the ministry, medicine, dentistry, law, nursing, and medical technology. Worldview Curriculum The innovative Worldview Curriculum, which is at the center of Belhaven’s liberal arts program, presents history, philosophy, literature, and art as one set of interconnected disciplines. This bold approach to education encourages students to discover the contexts of the Christian worldview, and consider how it relates to other systems of thought throughout history. Students are challenged to recognize their own worldview and to weigh it against the Christian worldview. FINANCIAL AID We understand that a college education can represent a significant personal investment. At Belhaven, financial aid is available for those who qualify. In fact, approximately ninety percent of Belhaven students receive some form of financial assistance. Programs may include federal and state grants, loans and work-study, as well as a variety of institutional scholarships and grants. OFFICE OF CAREER & ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT The mission of the Belhaven College Office of Career & Academic Development is to encourage students to strengthen their academic performance through assistance, accountability, and motivation; to effectively prepare students as they pursue their calling in service to Christ; and to assist students in determining their God-given strengths and abilities. The Office of Career & Academic Development aims to provide an effective development program to prepare men and women for service. While we cannot guarantee any graduate a job, the office of Career & Academic Development offers advice and techniques for effective career building. We maintain a job listing of both part- and full-time jobs in the Jackson area and around the country. Programs are taught in small classes by specialists in their fields. Classes meet once a week, and most students can earn their degrees in only two or three years.
