The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University has two conveniently located campuses in Waltham, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. Programs at The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University CDIA offers full-time day and part-time evening certificate programs. Our programs are led by world-class instructors who are practicing experts in their fields, and are backed by the reputation and resources of Boston University’s internationally renowned College of Communications. Not all programs are available at both campuses. Web Development Certificate Program Professional Digital Filmmaking Certificate During our intensive, two-term program, you’ll be taught skills in shooting and editing both documentary and narrative films, using contemporary tools and professional techniques, Professional Digital Photography Certificate In our intensive nine-month (two-term) program you’ll receive comprehensive instruction in basic photography, digital capture, view camera, large format, and comprehensive studio and location lighting techniques. The hands-on program will introduce you to a wide variety of career avenues including advertising, wedding, portrait, and special event photography. 3D Animation Certificate Learn the skills you’ll need to become a digital animator. You’ll get hands-on experience in creating 3D models, scenes and animations. Working on a team with your classmates, you'll develop a short animated subject suitable for a beginning portfolio or demo reel, complete with associated models, animations and textures. Visual Effects Certificate* This intensive program focuses on the unique skills of the visual effects artist. Supplement your 3D animation training by learning how to create breathtaking visual effects using advanced techniques. You’ll study complex mattes, integrating live action and digital elements, adding drama with effects, complex compositing, color correction, and digital paint tools. * Prerequisite: Successful completion of the 3D Animation Certificate Game Art & Design Certificate* Enhance your 3D animation skills by learning the art of video game design and development. You’ll use the professional editor that leading game designers employ as you create a fully functional game following the principles of solid game design. * Prerequisite: Successful completion of the 3D Animation Certificate Graphic & Web Design Certificate You'll learn to design for print, the web and motion graphics using cutting-edge design software tools. Hands-on coursework includes publication collateral design, website design, color management, interactivity, multimedia, and digital video and audio. You'll also explore real-world challenges faced by professional designers, and learn business skills such as teamwork, client interaction, and portfolio building. Audio Production Certificate The Audio Production Certificate program will immerse you in professional recording studio operations, current music technologies, and music production. You’ll learn how these applications are used in music, interactive media, and film and television productions. You’ll be instructed in audio theory and professional standards, and gain experience with industry-standard tools and the elements that influence audio for film, CDs, games, TV, and new media.
