CAREER TRAINING PROGRAMS
Therapeutic Massage and Skincare—Associate of Science
This dynamic and comprehensive training program prepares students for careers in the allied health and spa fields. The successful graduate is prepared to take the Florida State Board exam, which is needed to become a licensed massage therapist, and apply for the registration necessary to work a facial specialist in the state of Florida. The Therapeutic Massage and Skincare—Associate of Science program is hands-on and career-focused, and combines two rewarding and complementary skills.
Medical Therapeutic Massage—Associate of Science
The Medical Therapeutic Massage program combines instruction in massage therapy with training in medical office procedures, documentation, the assessment and treatment of massage interventions and sports-related injuries. Students receive training in the structure and function of the human body, hydrotherapy, massage therapy procedures and techniques, allied modalities, law and ethics, assessment, the prevention of medical errors, sports massage, medical office procedures, documentation, and current trends in the spa industry. The program prepares students for the Florida State Board examination for licensure for massage therapists in the state of Florida.
Aesthetics Skincare—Diploma
Training is provided in the traditional holistic approach to skin care, and includes instruction in the areas of hair removal, makeup and color analysis, mask and spa therapies, microdermabrasion, pressure points massage, enzyme treatments, body wrapping, and hot stone treatments. The Aesthetics Skincare Program prepares students for examination in the state of Florida to become registered facial specialists and certified in body wrapping.
Therapeutic Massage—Diploma
Training is provided in therapeutic massage, with an introduction to the structure and function of the human body. Students receive instruction in allied modalities, law and ethics, hydrotherapy, and safe medical practice. The program prepares students for the Florida State Board examination for licensure.
Cosmetology–Diploma
Daytona College is the only school in Volusia County offering Pivot Point Education in Cosmetology! Our 1200-hour comprehensive daily practice of hands-on and theory comprehension cosmetology program presents all aspects of hair design and the basics of facials, manicures, and pedicures.
Nail Specialist–Diploma
The Nail Specilaist program provides instruction, and hands-on practice in all phases of nail artistry. The student receives instruction and gains practice in all phases of nail artistry including: nail structure, manicuring, pedicuring, and chemicals and products used in the profession. The cirriculum also includes business and client development and the rules and laws essential for the nail specialist. The program prepares students to become a Registered Nail Specialist in the state of Florida. The registered graduate is qualified for entry-level employment as a Registered Nail Specialist in the field of nail care. The graduate can demonstrate communication skills and can apply professional and appropriate ethics to all areas of the job. The Nail Specialist program consists of 240 contact hours and 12 credit hours of instruction. A Diploma is awarded to a student upon successful completion of all graduation requirements listed in the catalog.
