Film & Audio

Do you have a passion for movies, television or music? You should consider training for a career in film or audio production. There’s plenty of excitement in these behind-the-scenes careers.

Film and television directors audition and hire cast members, oversee rehearsals, and direct the cast and crew. They may approve the sets, costumes, choreography, and music of a production. Broadcast and audio technicians operate a wide variety of electronic equipment used in radio or television broadcasts, musical recordings, concerts, and movies.

How do you enter these dynamic professions? The best way to prepare for a film or audio engineering job is to obtain community college, technical school, or college training in film, broadcast technology, computer networking, or electronics.

The U. S. government reports that employment of audio and video equipment technicians is expected to grow 24 percent through 2016, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Fueling job growth for film directors and producers is the continued development of direct-for-Web movies, interactive media, and mobile content produced for cell phones or other portable electronic devices.*
