Baker University
Baker University has been delivering excellence in the classroom since 1858. The first university in the state of Kansas, Baker University was founded by a group of Methodists who hoped to bring education to the fledging Kansas-Nebraska Territory. The school was named for Osmon. C. Baker, the Kansas-Nebraska bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Today, Baker University continues to build on the tradition of academic excellence with motivated students, a dedicated faculty, and a strong commitment to innovation. Our interactive learning environment promotes participation and sparks ideas, with measurable results: our alumni include four Rhodes Scholars and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Baker University is comprised of the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Professional and Graduate Studies, the School of Education, and the School of Nursing. Our main campus is located in Baldwin City, Kansas, with satellite campuses in Kansas and Missouri. Our educational diversity is a reflection of our mission to serve both recent high school graduates and the life-long learning needs of adults.
